INSTITUTE COURSES
Indus imparts the necessary and advanced skills required for the job onboard a cruise ship. These skills also help you to grow through faster promotions on board or in any other job opportunity you decide to take.
If you pass with 70% marks in all subjects, and if you meet the other eligibility criteria for the relevant position you qualify for, your job offer is assured. However, there are no guarantees as to when the interviews will take place, which cruise line or position you will be offered, and when you will be given a joining date.
If you are a fresher or do not have adequate job experience prior to doing our course, you will require further 6-8 months’ work experience with a reputed brand in the hospitality industry where you can acquire hands-on skills in your area of specialization, before you can be offered a shipboard position.
Please contact your nearest Indus office, the details of which are under the ‘Contact Us’ ‘tab on the website, for more details.
No, it is not compulsory. If you already have the relevant and required experience in the hospitality industry then you can be recruited directly. However, the course enables you to be cruise-ready by providing or upgrading the necessary skills.
Yes. If you are aiming for the cruise line job, medical fitness is important, and a medical fitness certificate needs to be provided at the time of admission to the course. Most cruise line jobs require you to be on your feet and on-the-go for long hours, so good stamina and a strong back are also necessary.
As per cruise line requirements, you should be 5 feet and above. More than weight, it’s your BMI (body mass index, ie, ration of weight to height) that is important, so it should be in the normal range.
It should be above average. All the classes are conducted in English so you should be able to understand the subject and communicate with your colleagues in English, as it is the common language spoken on board cruise ships where people of many nationalities work together. You also need to speak above average English to pass an online English test, pass your job interview and also your visa interview. Therefore almost 30% of study time at the institute is devoted to learning to communicate in English and develop better communication skills overall.
The course fee includes GST @ 18%, lunch & tea with snacks on working days, toolkit, some elements of the uniforms, locker facilities, books, project file, and some stationery.
If not Chennai-based, you will need to pay for accommodation and meals (which you will need to arrange yourself but the institute can assist you) as well as for transport and other incidentals, to be paid directly to those providing these services.
Based on your preference of city and brand, we encourage you to find the internship (or job??) yourself, but we will assist if opportunities in Chennai are available.
Assessments are done during the course as well as at the end of the course.
80% and above is necessary to appear for final exams.
