The Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) is an International Labour Organization (United Nations) convention established in 2006 as the “fourth pillar” of international maritime law and embodies “all up-to-date standards of existing international maritime labor conventions and recommendations, as well as the fundamental principles to be found in other international labor conventions” to protect the rights of all those who work on ocean-going ships.

The Convention entered into force on 20 August 2013, and has been so far ratified by 50 countries representing 75% of global shipping.

Indus is complied with procedures prescribed under Merchant Shipping (Recruitment and Placement of Seafarers) Rules, 2016, and Regulation 1.4 of the MLC 2006, as amended.
